Packing List for Siem Reap and Cambodia
Cambodia is a popular destination for avid travelers. Is it because of the magnificent Angkor Temple Complex, the charming culture and traditions, the exciting outdoor adventures, or the beautiful beaches?
We think it’s all of these amazing activities!
In Cambodia, things don’t always go according to plan. It’s important to lay out a packing list to be prepared for whatever may come your way. You want your time in Angkor to be as magical as possible.
To help you fully enjoy your vacation to the Kingdom of Wonder, we’ve put together some basic packing list guidelines. Hope this will be useful for your travels.
Packing comfortable clothing for your Cambodian journey is important.
2. Electronics
Who can live without their phone? Make sure to pack all your electrical items to document your travels!
3. Medical, Toiletries, and Skin Protection
Going overseas can be difficult. Take care of your body by packing recommended toiletries and medical items.
4. Luggage
Finally, let’s talk about luggage and where you are going to put all this stuff.
5. Packing List Tips
1. Clothing, Accessories & Footwear
Many travelers walk around in Cambodia with shorts, tank tops, and flip-flops. Wearing this style of clothing is great for a day at the beach, but will make you stick out in the city.
Cambodian culture is fairly conservative. Also, it’s a tropical country with a harsh sun. Showing skin can lead to a severe sunburn that ruins your vacation.
Pack loose, breathable materials that cover your skin. They’ll protect you from the harsh rays and pesky insects.
Clothing, Accessories, and Footwear:
- Loose, breathable clothing that covers skin
- Swim wear
- Sunglasses
- Hats
- Sandals
- Sneakers
- Hiking Boots
2. Electronics
Your electronics and cables are some of the most crucial parts of your packing list for a trip to Cambodia.
Of course, you’ll want to bring your phone and possibly your laptop. You should be able to grab a tourist sim card in almost any country you visit. Packing a camera is a must. Did you fly halfway around the world to not take any pictures?
You’ll need your cables to keep everything charged and functioning for your adventures. Depending on your country of origin, you may need to pack a travel adapter. The power plugs and sockets in Cambodia are of type A, C and G with a standard voltage of 220V.
Electronics:
- Camera
- Travel Adapter
- Charging Cables for all devices
- Powerbank
3. Medical, Toiletries & Skin Protection
We recommend packing most, if not all of these items even though many are commonly found in Cambodian cities. If you’re heading out to the countryside for a week, you’ll be glad to have them! Better to have it and to not need it than to need it and not to have it.
Medical, Toiletries, and Skin Protection:
- Basic First Aid Kit
- Sunscreen
- Insect Repellent
- Lotion
- Hand Sanitizer
- Toiletry Bag
- Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Floss, Mouthwash
- Deodorant
- Baby Powder or Talcum Powder
- Antifungal Cream
- Nail Clippers
- Quality Towel
- Basic Medicine Kit
- Ibuprofen
- Diarrhea Pills
- Stomach Ache Pills
- Indigestion Pills
4. Luggage
We recommend bringing at least two types of luggage. You need an easy-to-access suitcase, duffel, or travel bag that will be used to lug around most of your packing list.
You should also bring a comfortable day bag that will carry important everyday items with you wherever you go. Useful for keeping your wallet, passport, tickets and passes, drinking water, and anything else you may need.
Packing Tips
- Separate your money and valuables. If something does get lost or stolen, you will always have a stash to come back to.
- Lock up your gear! Put locks on your luggage and backpacks. Keep spares for your rooms! Just don’t lose the key.
- Bring, reuse, or buy bags to store dirty laundry. Tie the bag tight and even throw in an air freshener to keep your clean clothes smelling fresh.
- Rolling clothes takes up less space.
