The Angkor Temple Pass: Everything You Need to Know

Yay! You arrived in Cambodia to visit the world-renowned temple of Angkor Wat. But how do you gain access to the hundreds of ancient temples?

Unless you are a Cambodian citizen, you’re required to possess a valid Angkor Temple Pass to gain entry to the Angkor Archaeological Park. The Angkor Pass will also allow you to visit other heritage sites in the Siem Reap region.

The price of the entrance ticket depends on the chosen period of validity. Children under the age of 12 aren’t required to purchase an Angkor Pass, however, a passport must be shown as proof.

It’s also good to know that for every Angkor Temple Pass purchased, 2 US dollars get sent to the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital fund in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. The hospitals provide free healthcare for mothers during pregnancy and to children up to 16 years old.

1. What is the Angkor Temple Pass?

Also called:

• The Angkor Temple Pass
• The Angkor Pass
• The Angkor Wat Entrance Ticket

No matter how you refer to it, the Angkor Pass is a document that’s required for all persons to visit the Angkor Archaeological Park. (except Cambodian citizens)

Please note that the Angkor Pass is NOT:

• Refundable
• Transferable between people since the owner’s name and photo are printed on the entrance ticket
• Negotiable

Keep your Angkor Pass safe as it will be checked multiple times during your visit to the temples. If you don’t have one, you will pay a fine.

2. Ticket Price and Entrance Fees

There are three types of passes available for purchase depending on how many days you want to visit. Ask us for advice on choosing your Angkor Temple Pass.

• 1 day Pass: $37
  (Valid for one day only)
• 3 day Pass: $62
  (Valid for any three days during 10 days. 10-day period starts the date of your first visit)
• 7 day Pass: $72
  (Valid for any seven days during one month. Period starts the date of your first visit)

Payment is usually made in cash. It can also be paid for with credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, UnionPay, Discover, and JCB). There are ATMs at the ticketing center if you need to withdraw cash.

3. Visiting Hours and Locations

With the Angkor Pass you can visit every temple in Angkor Park as well as other temples in the region. This includes the Rouluos Group, Phnom Krom, Beng Mealea, and Wat Athvea.

A separate admission pass is necessary to visit Phnom Kulen National Park and Koh Ker. These tickets are priced at $20 and $10, respectively.

Most of the temples in the Angkor Park can be visited from 7.30 am – 5.30 pm, but there are exceptions:

• Angkor Wat and Srah Srang: 5 am – 5.30 pm for visitors to enjoy the sunrise
• Phnom Bakheng and Pre Rup: 5 am – 7 pm for visitors to enjoy both sunrise and sunset

4. Where Do You Buy the Angkor Temple Pass?

The Angkor Pass can only be purchased at the official ticketing center: Angkor Enterprise. The building is four kilometers away from Siem Reap on the corner of Road 60 and Apsara Road.
When you book a tour with us, we will bring you to the ticketing office before visiting the park.

The ticket office is open 7 days a week from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm. Public holidays and other factors do not affect its opening times at all.

It’s important to remember that tickets cannot be purchased in advance. One-day Angkor Pass tickets are issued for the same day up to 5 pm. One-day tickets issued after 5 pm are valid for the next day.

Important Things to Note

1. You can only buy tickets at the official Angkor Ticket Office. All other tickets purchased from third parties are not valid.
2.  Tickets are non-transferable, non-refundable, and non-negotiable. If you lose your ticket, you must buy another one.
3. Keep your tickets safe and with you at all times. You will be fined $100, $200, and $300 if you’re found in the park without your 1-day, 3-day or 7-day pass.
4. Children under 12 years do not need a ticket. However, a passport is needed to prove the child’s age.
